This is the story of a young, black boy from rural Georgia who had a dream to become a great artist. While he was still an infant, Lorenzo Scott's mother moved to Atlanta looking for work during the Depression. One of eleven children, he went no further in his education than the tenth grade. As a young man, Scott worked as a house painter, and didn't make his first oil painting until the age of twenty-five. In spite of enormous odds against success in the mainstream art world, Lorenzo Scott embarked on a life-long struggle to realize his dream.
